How to become a CPM®

Step One: CPM® Candidacy
Before you can earn the CPM® designation you need to become a candidate. All you have to do is:

  • Complete the application form; include all your references, non-refundable processing fee, and mail to REIC National Office. Please be sure to include copies of any documents (e.g. university graduation, course records, transcripts) that will help to expedite your application.
  • Your professional experience is calculated, your references are contacted, and a chapter interview is conducted (usually at your place of business).
  • The Admissions Department will confirm your candidacy in writing. You must be a candidate for a minimum of one year, and you have 10 years to achieve your designation.
  • When you become a candidate, you must remain a candidate for a minimum of one year and will have a maximum of ten years to meet the requirements for CPM® membership.

As a candidate, you will be required to complete a series of courses that will prepare you to thoroughly understand and meet investors' needs. CPM® members are trained to analyze a property's physical and fiscal performance and implement policies and procedures to enhance short-term and long-range property value.
    Step Two: CPM® Membership

To achieve the CPM® designation, candidates must:
